Consultations in English

Welcome. My name is Esmé Binoth, and I offer consultations in English for international patients
living in Basel, Basel-Land and the Lörrach area.

Integrative gut health, acupuncture and stress-related care in the Basel/Lörrach region

As someone with Scottish roots who has lived in the UK for ten years, I know how important it can be to speak about health in a language that feels natural and emotionally safe. This is especially true when symptoms are complex, personal or long-standing.

In my practice, I support people with digestive complaints, migraines, fatigue, burnout-related symptoms and stress-related health issues. I also offer acupuncture, and women's health is a growing focus of my practice.

My approach is calm, thoughtful and holistic. I take time to listen, to understand the wider context of your symptoms, and to develop an individual treatment plan with you.

What is a Heilpraktiker?

In Germany, a Heilpraktiker is a state-licensed practitioner trained and legally permitted to practise complementary and natural medicine.

Many Heilpraktiker work with approaches such as acupuncture, nutritional therapy, gut health support and holistic treatment concepts.

My approach is complementary and integrative. I do not see complementary medicine as a replacement for conventional medical care, but as a meaningful addition — especially for chronic, functional and stress-related symptoms.

I value dialogue and cooperation between complementary and conventional medicine.
Where appropriate, I encourage medical clarification and collaboration with your doctor.

Many patients seek this kind of support when looking for a more individual, holistic and thoughtful approach to their health.

Digestive symptoms are often more than a local gut issue. Stress, nutrition, the nervous system, hormonal changes, infections, medication history and lifestyle can all play a role.

I work with patients who experience symptoms such as bloating, abdominal discomfort, irregular digestion, food sensitivities, recurring digestive problems or a general sense that their gut health is out of balance.

Together, we look at your symptoms, your history and your everyday life in order to find a practical and individual way forward.

Areas I can support you with

Fatigue, stress and burnout-related symptoms

Migraine and headaches

Migraines can be deeply disruptive and are often connected to multiple factors, including stress, hormonal changes, digestion, sleep, tension and the nervous system.

My work focuses on understanding your personal migraine patterns and supporting your body with an integrative approach. Depending on your situation, this may include acupuncture, lifestyle support, digestive health work and stress regulation.

Many people come to me when they feel exhausted, overstimulated or no longer able to recover properly. This can happen after long periods of professional pressure, emotional stress, illness or major life transitions.

In my practice, we look at the whole picture: digestion, sleep, nervous system regulation, energy, lifestyle and emotional load. The aim is not to push harder, but to support recovery in a sustainable way.

Women's health is a growing focus of my practice, particularly where hormonal changes, stress, digestion, migraines and fatigue overlap. This is an area I am deepening through dedicated further training.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture can be a gentle and effective way to support the body's self-regulation.

In my practice, I use acupuncture as part of a broader therapeutic approach, particularly for stress-related symptoms, migraines, digestive complaints and states of exhaustion.
Many patients find acupuncture to be a valuable part of an integrative approach to health, particularly when dealing with stress-related symptoms, fatigue, migraines and digestive complaints.

My approach

I combine naturopathic thinking, gut health support, acupuncture and a careful understanding of stress-related symptoms.

My background is also shaped by academic training: before becoming a practitioner, I completed a BA and MA in History and spent many years living in the UK.

This background influences the way I work. I value careful listening, clear thinking and context. I do not see symptoms in isolation, but as part of a wider personal and physical story.

My aim is to offer a professional, grounded and compassionate space for people who are looking for more time, more understanding and a more individual approach to their health.

For international patients

My aim is to ensure that you feel well supported in your healthcare and that important information does not get lost in translation. I can also review medical reports from your doctors in Switzerland or Germany and help you understand what they mean for your treatment.

This may be especially helpful if you:

  • have recently moved to the Basel region
  • work in an international environment
  • feel more comfortable discussing health in English
  • are looking for holistic support alongside conventional medical care
  • want someone who understands both British and German-speaking cultural contexts

My practice is located in Lörrach, within easy reach of Basel, Basel-Land and the Markgräflerland.

In the first consultation, we take time to discuss your symptoms, health history, current lifestyle and goals. From there, I suggest an individual treatment plan.

Depending on your needs, this may include:

  • gut health support
  • acupuncture
  • nutritional and lifestyle recommendations
  • stress and nervous system support
  • support for migraine patterns
  • women's health support

Where necessary, I will always encourage appropriate medical clarification or collaboration with your doctor.
